Hello folks and welcome to my latest blog,

This blog is all about our brand new website https://www.bglandscapetours.ie and some of its super cool features to make it even easier for you to not only book a tour but do it in a way thats convenient to you, the client.

The photo at the top of the page is the home page to the website and is designed to be both simple and effective (CLICK ANY OF THE PICTURES TO ENLARGE THEM). As you can see from the photo above its pretty straight forward and you should be able to browse it effortlessly. I will however go through the site step by step to show you how it works and how booking a tour or photography workshop has never been easier... Still reading?? Well follow me.




About:

Pretty simple really. This section is a straight forward introduction from myself with info about myself, why I love landscape photography and sightseeing around Ireland and as much of the world as possible. Alongside me in the little photo inside the photo is my right hand man Marley, I'm lucky to have such a loyal and friendly dog and sometimes he even comes on our hiking tours to make sure the company is running smoothly. Also to the right of the photo you can also access my twitter feed and even give me a follow if you feel like it.

Why book a tour with us?

1) Pay with PayPal or our FULLY secured card payment system.

2) Should you book a tour with us, you originally pay the set deposit to secure your place in which you will get a swift e-mail to confirm you've booked. This e-mail will also give you an option to "make additional payment". All you have to do is keep the reference number you get in the confirmation e-mail and you can make a minimum additional payment of €50 at any one time until tour is paid. Most of our tours/workshops have to be paid 28 days prior to the trip. This additional payment system makes things so much easier should you want to chip away with payments to lighten the load as you get closer to the tour or workshop... Latest tours/workshops below

 3) Knowledge of the locations in which we run our events. We take great pride in running scouting trips to all locations to familiarise ourselves with a specific area before taking you, the client, on a tour. This ensures that you get to experience the best the locations we visit have to offer.

4) Hospitality... So far on our tours we've had to climb down a little cliff to retrieve a clients fallen camera (I've got necessary training to do so), although the camera was a write off, the SD card with all the shots were saved.

4a) Jump in a waterfall pool waist deep to retrieve a clients lens hood.

4b) Drive 70 miles round trip on a tour in Scotland for a client that had left his tripod at a shooting location.

Basically we'll do what ever we can... within reason.

5) The 'craic'... Exactly as it says on the tin, we do love a laugh and love to see happy faces.

6) PASSION... our passion for the outdoors won't be beaten.



7) We have recently purchased a 9 seater VW shuttle bus complete with 9 seat belts, air conditioning and plenty of ports for charging phones, cameras and laptops!

The Milky Way or Aurora Borealis?? Even though they both involve using the same type of lenses, f2.8 or lower preferably, both also need dark skies, but in terms of shooting, living in Ireland, the Milky Way involves going as far South as possible while the aurora involves us going as far North as possible. Below is a prime example, an Aurora image from Lough Salt, Donegal in September 2017 and a Milky Way image from Ardmore, Waterford in February 2018. Although we don't get as much of the Milky Way core in Ireland as countries further South or in the Southern Hemisphere, it's almost, if not better, to shoot the Milky Way from Ireland, for a few reasons... - We don't get many nights of clear skies in Ireland - We don't get fully dark skies in the summer (best times to shoot Feb-Apr & Aug-Sept) due to  the Milky Way only lining up and certain times of the year. - We need there to be little or no moon - If all of the above lines

Under arctic light

"You're mad going there in November" That is what I was told by a few people when I mentioned that I was headed to The Lofoten Islands, Norway in the middle of November. It gets too much rain, its too windy, the light is bad... the list goes on. We had none of the above, We had epic light, amazing clear skies and even better aurora displays!!! We arrived at our accommodation in Hamnoy, Lofoten late at night after a long day of travelling and we just hit the hay right away. I must admit I found it hard to sleep due to a mix of over tiredness and excitement at what the next week had in store for us. Skip to the next morning when we woke... The Dolomites, a photographers paradise.

It's been a few months since I led my very first two Dolomites photo tours, which I was absolutely delighted to sell out. Leading up to the trips it was hard not to be excited, I had been to the Dolomites in October 2017 with my good pals Johnny Baird and Felix Sproll. It really was the trip of a lifetime, A bucket list location that I thought to myself i'd never in my wildest dreams ever photograph there never mind run photo tours there. Leading up to the trips it was as exciting as it gets, but as the trips grew closer one or two nerves crept in, its normal for a trip, especially an international one because you want/need so many things to come together. Your going away with people you've never been away with before, most of the time they are strangers to each other also, but you also want the accommodation to be nice and the weather to be perfect.
